  • Background radiation declines in prefectures, still higher than normal

  • Iodine in water declines, cesium steady or growing

  • Steady but slow progress at plant, getting contaminated water under control, electric power to all units, continued cooling of reactors and spent fuel pools

  • Radiation at the plant continues to decline at a steady pace set by decay of iodine and cesium primarily.

  • Background radiation in Chiba and Tokyo continues to decline, still higher than normal for these two regions

  • Cesium in water continues to increase in Chiba and Tokyo, though iodine in both areas is decreasing

  • Cesium and iodine fallout declined in both Chiba and Tokyo

  • Radioactivity: Because there is less getting out of the plant, levels in radioactivity levels in Chiba and Tokyo are decreasing according to the decay of iodine 131 with a half life of 8 days.  Every day a small decrease.  Levels are still above background, comparable to about 13 chest xrays per year.

  • Drinking Water:  Levels in Chiba are lower than yesterday, showing fairly low levels.  If you have access to bottled water, then use that instead of tap water.  I will be happiest when the level is down to background levels.

  • Fallout (Dust on the ground):  Levels are the same as yesterday.  At least there was no increase.  Levels are fairly low.  Continue to be careful.

  • Winds: Winds at the plant seem to be continuing toward the east, so most (if any) of the fallout is going out to sea.  Good news for Chiba and Tokyo.
